So, I finally did it: I launched my own blog. Also happens to be my first blog, so there that is. I used to have a web site some years ago but due to budget constraints and other things I had to take the site down. Since I usually try to stay current on the tech front, a blog seems an appropriate next step. I have a FaceBook account already and am considering a Twitter account as well. It being 2010 and all of that.
(I've actually been contemplating relaunching my web site again but decided I'd do a blog first and let the web site follow, once I can figure out how to do it with minimum cost.)
Why a blog called I Love Cool Shoes? I guess because I do love cool shoes and I just want to share that with others. (Plus, I'm also kind of hoping writing the blog helps get my writing chops back up and maybe that will further inspire me to write more.) I love cool shoes for women and men, but primarily my current interest is in cool women's shoes.
I probably should clarify: I love cool shoes to admire on someone else, not to wear them myself. That would be kinky and not what I'm about. The exceptions being men's shoes, since I'm a guy and I actually do like cool shoes for men, too. The problem with most cool men's shoes I've found? The really cool ones rarely, if ever, come in my size. I wear size 11 1/2 5E or 6E. Even shoe stores that specialize in wide width shoes have few if any cool men's shoes in my size. Extra Fred Flintstone size, basically. Oh...and when and if I find cool men's shoes in my size, they're nearly always prohibitively expensive.
But, fortunately, admiring cool shoes is not expensive. So far, it's been free. I love cool ladies' shoes with high heels and prefer pointed toes. I have a very deep love of cool boots, especially. The higher they go up the leg, the better; that said, I love cool ankle boots, too. Depends on the designer.
Current favorite designers or people who have their own shoe lines: probably the reigning king of cool shoes right now is Christian Louboutin. If the name doesn't ring a bell, you may have seen his shoes on many famous lady celebrities. His trademark is a red sole on all his shoes. On the current cover of O the Oprah Magazine, Oprah Winfrey is wearing a pair of Louboutins. Singer/Actor/Model Jennifer Lopez has a song dedicated to the shoes and their shoemaker called "Puttin' On My Louboutins."
Awesome as those shoes are, unless you're already a star or just that wealthy Louboutons are a bit expensive for mere mortals. To give you an idea? Picture of Hayden Panitierre in a recent edition of OK! Magazine wearing her favorite Louboutin pumps with a super short mini dress. The pair of Louboutins she's wearing? Over $800. Like I said...bit pricey for us mere mortals. But, badass shoes all the same.
I also like shoes by the designer Balenciaga (I hope I spelled that correctly). I base that almost solely (pun not completely intentional) on a picture in a magazine I saw that featured the actor Reese Witherspoon. She was wearing a pair of Balenciaga's with this cute mini dress. I'd never really considered Reese particularly "hot" ... until I saw that picture. And those cool shoes. Anyway.
Current stars with cool shoe lines I like include, but aren't limited to, singer/actor Jessica Simpson and Fergie from the Black Eyed Peas. Both of their shoe lines seem a little more reasonably priced but are still really cool. Designer Steve Madden also has a line of very cool shoes that also seem reasonably priced. I also like shoes by Jimmy Choo, a line called Delicious, and Candies, which Britney Spears is modeling for again.
I'm in the process of collecting pictures of some of my favorite cool shoes that I hope to add to my Blog soon. Probably not surprisingly, launching this blog has indeed opened another creative outlet valve and I'm working on ideas for additional blogs on any number of topics (including possibly doing an I Hate Ugly-Ass Shoes Blog, too).
So, come back from time to time and see what's cooking.
